Health and wellness coaching is fast becoming a sought after nursing specialty. Nurses can become certified in this specialty (RNs only) after working xx amount of hours as a health and wellness coach. I’m starting to see job posting from health and wellness centers and even insurance companies are hiring health coaches to help educate the public on disease prevention and lifestyle changes.
Love all the opportunities I seeing and hearing about for nurses in the health and wellness coaching industry.
Here’s 3 business opportunities as a wellness coach~
Work from home
This is a great opportunity for nurses to work from home, owning their own business as a health and wellness coach. Seek out training in the area of health and wellness you want to specialize in, tthat programs will most likely teach you about marketing your business. This should be enough to get you started and if you need help here feel free to contact me, I’d be happy to help.
Work for health care practices
Look for business opportunities in massage clinics, chiropractic services and therapy centers. Many health and fitness centers are also looking to hire health coaches as an added service for being a member of the club for a total health and wellness experience.
Work in the Corporate world
Big name businesses are now hiring their own wellness coach, as a means to help manage health care costs as well as lower the absentee rate among their employees. This is an opportunity for nurses work in the corporate world helping CEOs and employees live a healthier lifestyle.
You could also do this on a part time basis to supplement your current income or to “test out the waters” to see if becoming a health and wellness coach is what you want to do.
You can specialize in niche areas such as disease management, holistic health, nutrition, weight loss, fitness, smoking cessation, lifestyle change, stress management, and the list goes on.
You can also branch out into life coaching and business coaching, tons of opportunities here, probably why it’s so popular and one of the most frequently asked questions I get, I want to become a health coach, how can I do this?
More and more nurses (yes, LPNs and nursing assistants too) are turning to health coaching as an alternative to hospital nursing because of the benefits coaching brings to people’s lives. Unlike in traditional nursing you may see the same patients over and over again but in coaching you truly get to see someone change their lives for the better. What a great way to really help others, isn’t that why you become a nurse in the first place?
Get out there and explore!
